UNDER THE RAINBOW WE WAIT
Hopped on the motorcycle and headed though the Cahuenga Pass this morning, split lanes all the way through Hollywood down to La Brea and 3rd for the commercial callback. “Paul, are you willing to go clean shaven?” I love when they ask me that at an audition where the role description is “bearded tattoo guy”
“Yes” is what I said. You always say yes. Can you ride a horse? Yes. Have you ever had stunt fighting experience? Yes. Will you shave your head? Yes. It all works out. Yes.
Back on the motorcycle down La Brea, up on the 10 west to Culver City, and a long walk across the lot at Sony. All the tough guys that I have been auditioning with for over a decade were there. Sat next to Bobby King, he was the stunt coordinator on “Tripping Forward” way back when. We showed each other pictures of our daughters and commiserated about our gray hairs. “Hey, you still riding the motorcycle?” ALWAYS SAY YES. He took my number because Bobby just might have a gig for me down the road. On the way out of the lot I crossed under the huge steel rainbow and realized that now all I could do was wait. Wait to hear about Hyundai. Wait to hear about the callback. Wait to hear about the Sony audition. And wait to hear from Bobby. Busy week. Keep it rolling.
