Outside Of Los Angeles: Cockroach
Only four nights at the bar this week, it will reflect in the next paycheck. Four auditions last week, not one callback, not one booking. I won’t let all that get me down. I’ll create something that is meaningful and entertaining to me. I wrote some more for my online (for now) manuscript “Outside Of Los Angeles“. Maybe it will get published one day? Maybe someone will buy it? Only way to find out is to do it. Enjoy.
“Ten out of ten times a cockroach gets stepped on in this town, guaranteed. Those are some shitty odds- if you’re a cockroach. It’s about respect out here. People don’t respect you then they are definitely gonna shit on you every chance they get. You can’t talk yourself into some respect, you gotta earn it. You tell some dick that you’re gonna break his hand if a payment is late then you better break his fucking hand one second after it’s past due. Some dick makes you go to him then you put some of his blood on the floor when you leave. Any shitbird can be a badass, what you want to be is an absolute nightmare. Assholes love trying to test themselves on a badass, nobody in their right mind wants to get near a nightmare. Be fair, be consistent, but never show mercy. Our business is cut and dry, we run this shit. Nobody tells you what’s what, that’s your gig. You are the fucking boot coming down on the cockroaches on the street. The second you forget that then watch out, someone’s about to step on you.”
